◽️ All remnants of the Ukrainian Azov Nazis, together with foreign mercenaries from the USA and European countries, are securely blocked on the territory of the Azovstal plant. Our demands to release the women and children allegedly staying with them for free departure in any direction are ignored by the Nazis. The Nazis are informed on an hourly basis of the order of exit of civilians, if they are there, from the territory of Azovstal for further evacuation. This information is also communicated to representatives of the Kiev regime through Deputy Prime Minister Vereshchuk.

◽️ The retention by the Azov Nazis and foreign mercenaries of civilian hostages, if there are any, proves that they are not "defenders" but complete terrorists.

◽️ In this connection, the US State Department speaker's fed up attempts to habitually lie about the alleged retention by the Nazis of

🇷🇺🇺🇦 Briefing by the Russian Ministry of Defence (05.04.2022)

◽️ The grouping of troops of the Luhansk People's Republic continues its offensive against the positions of the Ukrainian 24th Independent Mechanized Brigade and is fighting on the eastern outskirts of the village of Novotoshkovskoye.

💥 On the Severodonetsk direction, units of the Luhansk People's Republic have broken through the defence of the 57th AFU mechanised brigade, destroying up to 50 personnel and 9 armoured vehicles, and are fighting on the northern outskirts of the Zamulovka settlement.

◽️ The Russian Armed Forces continue strikes against Ukraine's military infrastructure.

💥 High-precision air-launched missiles near the settlements of Zolochev and Chuguev destroyed the command post of a territorial defence unit, a fuel storage facility and an armoured vehicle repair plant.

💥 During the day, Russian Air Force and missile forces hit 33 Ukrainian military facilities. Among them: eight command posts, three logistics depots, as well as 21 strongholds and areas where AFU military equipment is concentrated.

💥 Russian air defence forces shot down five Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles.

📊 A total of 125 aircraft, 93 helicopters, 403 drones, 1981 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 854 field artillery and mortar guns, as well as 1,876 pieces of special military vehicles have been destroyed since the start of the special military operation.

💥 On the morning of 5 April, another attempt by the Kiev regime to evacuate the leaders of the Azov nationalist battalion was foiled near Mariupol. Two Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopters attempting to break through to the city from the sea were shot down by man-portable anti-aircraft missile systems.

◽️ Earlier, we have repeatedly communicated to the Kyiv regime through all available channels our proposals regarding the possibility of the Ukrainian armed forces withdrawing from Mariupol after voluntarily laying down their weapons.

◽️ Today, once again, as of 6am Moscow time, Ukrainian servicemen were offered to cease hostilities, lay down their weapons and withdraw along the agreed route to the territory under the control of the Kiev regime. However, these proposals have been consistently ignored by the Kiev regime.

◽️ Given Kiev's disinterest in saving the lives of its servicemen, Mariupol will be liberated from nationalists by units of the Russian Armed Forces and the Donetsk people's republic.

Airwars assessment

Between four and five civilians were injured by confirmed Russian shelling of the city of Lozova on April 2, 2022.

On April 2nd, numerous reports described that alleged Russian shelling damaged numerous homes and left four individuals “moderately wounded” in the Lozova section of Kharkiv.  This was initially reported by Kharkiv human rights group. Novynarnia news reported that Russian forces shelled private residential buildings, a transformer substation and a warehouse building, resulting in at least 5 people receiving shrapnel wounds. The injured civilians were hospitalized in the district hospital.

Suspiline Media quoted Lozova mayor Serhiy Zelensky as saying that while no children were injured in the attack, there were “damaged houses” and his team “[was] calculating the consequences”.

Ukrinform News reported that damage will require “three days” according to Zelensky (also listed as the head of Lozova Territorial Community), and the city was left without electricity and water. This description was posted by Zelensky on Facebook and later used in reports by Nv.ua and Interfax News. Hromadske News offered more details by stating that “at least five people received shrapnel wounds and were hospitalized”.

All of the local sources that reported on the incident attributed the incident to Russian forces. The Russian state-run media RT quoted a Russian government official who admitted to carrying out airstrikes in Lozova. Major General Igor Konashenkov, a spokesperson for the Russian Defense Ministry, noted that “On the afternoon of April 2, high-precision air-launched missiles in the areas of the Lozovaya and Pavlograd railway stations destroyed armored vehicles, ammunition and fuel tanks sent to reinforce the grouping of Ukrainian troops in Donbas.”

Airwars assessment

At least 60 Al-Shabaab militants were reported killed in a declared US airstrike in support of Somali ground actions, at Fiidow village in Hiiraan on February 22, 2022.

Somali National Television reported that “over 60 Al Shabab terrorists were killed in a planned security operation conducted by #Somali National Army with support of airstrikes of Somalia’s security partners in Fiidow village of #Hiiraan region on Tuesday, SNA chief Ge. Odawa Yusuf confirmed to State Media.” The location and casualties were also confirmed by a government spokeswoman.

According to Mareeg, the Somali military stated that they had killed 60 militants, including their commander, whose name has not been released, in addition to also destroying the group’s safe houses, a so-called mobile court and explosive centers in Hiran region.”

The Somali Guardian also reported that militants claimed seven Somali government soldiers had been killed in an ambush carried out by Al-Shabaab.

The New York Times reported that the strike was carried out with an MQ-9 Reaper and followed an attack on allied Somali forces in Duduble, about 40 miles northwest of Mogadishu.

The New York Times also added details about the decision to carry out the strike, which “as in four previous attacks since President Biden took office, White House approval was not needed because the Africa Command has the authority to conduct strikes in support of allied forces under what the military calls collective self-defense.” However, “There were no U.S. forces accompanying Somali forces during this operation, an Africa Command spokesman said. Instead, U.S. forces were advising and assisting the Somali forces’ mission from a remote location, but the official did not say where that was.”

AFRICOM released a statement a day after the incident declaring that “In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. Africa Command conducted an airstrike against al-Shabaab terrorists after they attacked partner forces in a remote location near Duduble, Somalia, February 22.” While it stated that a battle-damage assessment was still pending, “the command’s initial assessment is that no civilians were injured or killed as a result of this airstrike.”

AFRICOM cited both self defence, and the 2001 Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) as justification for the strike.

This incident marked the first declared US strike in Somalia by AFRICOM since August 2021. Five days before the action, AFRICOM commander General Townsend had visited US forces in Somalia – as unnamed senior US defense officials briefed Stars and Stripes that ‘U.S.-backed forces in Somalia are now outgunned by Africa’s largest terrorist group, raising concerns that a 2021 decision to pull out American troops and curtail airstrikes has helped the militants’ insurgency expand’.

The local time of the incident is unknown.

Original strike reports

US Forces

In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. Africa Command conducted an airstrike against al-Shabaab terrorists after they attacked partner forces in a remote location near Duduble, Somalia, February 22.

U.S. forces are authorized to conduct strikes in support of combatant commander-designated partner forces under the 2001 Authorization of Use for Military Force.

A battle-damage assessment is still pending. The command’s initial assessment is that no civilians were injured or killed as a result of this airstrike.

The Federal Government of Somalia and U.S. Africa Command forces take great measures to prevent civilian casualties. These efforts contrast with the indiscriminate attacks that al-Shabaab regularly conducts against the civilian population.

The Federal Government of Somalia and the U.S. remain committed to fighting al-Shabaab to prevent the deaths of innocent civilians. Violent extremist organizations like al-Shabaab present long-term threats to the U.S. and regional interests.
