Between four and six civilians including a child and up to three women wounded in an alleged Russian or regime airstrike on Kafr Uwayd city in Idlib, local media said. There were also reports of artillery strikes.

According to 7alnet, “two men and three women were injured”.

However, Radio Fresh reported that “six civilians, including a woman, were wounded, and they were taken to a nearby medical point when Russian air force planes attacked and  the village of Kafraweid.”

Other sources blamed the regime, and there were numerous reports of barrel bombing from helicopters.

A woman and two children of the same family were killed in alleged Russian or Syrian regime airstrikes on Arnaba, Idlib governorate, on May 4th, 2019, according to local sources.

According to the White Helmets, “two children were killed and a child was seriously injured as a result of a military airstrike near a school and a mosque in the centre of the village of Arnaba in Jabal Al Zawiya. Immediately, the Civil Defense went to the site of the raids.”

The Syrian Network for Human Right wrote that “the child Majed Abdullah Al Ahmad and his sister An’am, aged respectively 10 and 20, were killed as fixed-wing warplanes we believe were Russian fired missiles on Arnaba village in Jabal Al Zawiya area in Idlib governorate southern suburbs, on May 4.”

On May 5th, Hasan Al Ahmad wrote on Facebook that “the death of the child Ibrahim Ahmed Al Ahmad from the village of Aranba resulted into three martyrs [caused by] the Russian bombing that targeted the centre of the village yesterday.”

Local sources reported that the missiles, also described as rockets, caused damage to the Arnaba Primary School and the Omar Bin al Khattab Mosque when they struck near the buildings.

Whereas most sources blamed Russian airstrikes, TRT Arabic pointed to the regime while @HalabTodayTV blamed both Russia and the regime.

Alleged Russian or Syrian regime air and/or artillery strikes on the town of Al Habit, Idlib governorate, killed up to four civilians on May 4th, 2019, local media reported.

Multiple sources reported the shelling of civilian infrastructure. According to @AishaSapri, the health centre was struck, while the Syrian Network for Human Rights reported damage to three schools in the town: Khalid Al Mousa Secondary School, Khawla Primary School, and Al Qadisiya School. Additionally, several farms in the town were struck by what was described as “rocket attacks”.

Khan Sheikhoun reported on Facebook that Sobhia Mohammed Bashir Aburas and Abdel Qadir Fadl Aburas were killed in Syrian regime rocket attacks on farms in the area, in addition to a third unidentified man. The Syrian Network for Human Rights wrote that a woman and a child were killed.

Edlib Media Center reported that two people were killed and several were wounded, pointing to Russia as the belligerent. However, Khan Sheikhoun, along with many other sources, stated that the regime was responsible.

Baladi News wrote that “a man and his wife were killed and their three children were hit by a missile bombardment by the regime forces, who targeted the farms of the town of Habit, south of Idlib, at dawn today.”

@SyrianHNC reported that three people from a displaced family from Srihin, Hama, died. According to the White Helmets, “two women and four children from a single family were rescued from the rubble of their demolished house as a result of the targeting of civilian houses in the town of Habit in rural Idlib, with six explosive drums and two warplanes.”

According to Syrian Mosaic, two women and four children from the same family were injured.

Syrian Mosaic said that the town had been bombarded “with 19 explosive barrels, 27 airstrikes, 160 rockets, and 30 artillery shells.”

@NagiNajjar reported that rockets were fired from a Russian military camp in Bridij.

On May 3rd, the White Helmets tweeted: “Three children and two women were injured a short while ago following shelling by rockets carrying cluster bombs targeting the town of Ma’aret Harma in the southern countryside of Idlib, by the forces of the regime stationed in the countryside of Hama.”

Idlib Media Center also reported injured civilians as the result of an explosive barrel bomb but shared a video of a helicopter dropping munition on the village.

Step News Agency reported that the village was targeted with four ground-to-ground-missiles carrying cluster bombs, which allegedly came from a Russian military camp in Bribidiaj. HalabTodayTV also reported the use of cluster bombs but did not identify the culprit.

The pro-regime Twitter account @HoseinMortada wrote that “terrorist groups and their headquarters” were targeted in the area.

A young girl, named as Bisan Hasan al Atrash, died and five or six other civilians were wounded in alleged Russian or Syrian regime air or artillery strikes on Baydar Shamsou, local media reported.

In a video posted by Baladi News, a member of the White Helmets says that “warplanes raided the village of Baydar Shamsou, leading to the death of a girl and wounding two men and two women and a child. There was also a great deal of destruction to houses.” Baladi pointed to regime warplanes. Al Ghadal Soury reported that two children had been injured.

According to an Orient TV video post, “a child was killed and more than six civilians were injured as Russian air force planes targeted the village of Baydar Shamsou. A resident of the village said ‘’all the village’s residents are farmers. There is no base, or headquarters of anything here… Just farmers.’’’

Several sources, among which the Syrian Network for Human Rights and OrientTV, blamed Russian warplanes for the shelling, whereas others, such as Shaam News Network, blamed both Russia and the Syrian regime.

Whereas nearly all sources reported airstrikes, Shaam News Network also reported artillery strikes on the village. Ebaa News wrote that the village was targeted during the night, but both Anadolu Agency and SyrianNoor reported that the incident occured in the morning.

Al Ghadal Soury gave some context, reporting on May 4th: “For the fifth day in a row, the regime and its allies have been targeting the towns and villages of Idlib and its surrounding areas under the control of the opposition factions. Russian warplanes are carrying out dozens of raids, while the regime’s helicopters have been dropping dozens of explosive barrels in different areas of the region, killing and wounding dozens of civilians in the past few days.”

At least one civilian was wounded when alleged Russian or Syrian regime air or artillery strikes hit the village of Bab Al Taqa, west of Hama, on May 3rd, 2019, local media reported.

Smart News Agency wrote that, according to activists, “a civilian was wounded by Russian airstrikes on the village of Bab Al Taqa, west of Hama.”

@addouniatv noted that  “units of the army destroyed the mechanisms and gatherings of terrorist groups in the Bab al Taka and Alsermaina rural West Hama”.

Al Hayat also reported that dens of terrorist groups were targeted in the morning, resulting in the “elimination of a number of terrorists, and the destruction of mechanisms and platforms for firing missiles.”

Al Jazeera shared a video of a man finding the body of his friend “Walid”. It is unclear if the victim is a civilian.

Other sources reported barrel bombing from helicopters as well as artillery shelling. Baladi News blamed both Russia and the Syrian regime for the shelling.

A male civilian was killed in alleged Russian or Syrian regime airstrikes on the town of Al Habit, Idlib governorate, on May 3r, 2019, according to local sources. At least one other man was reportedly wounded.

HalabTodayTV reported that a civilian was killed in airstrikes by a warplane, without identifying the belligerent. Al Arabiya reported five regime airstrikes on the town, in conjunction with intensive rocket shelling.

Mohammed Al Dab’an, reportedly a nephew of the victim, wrote on Facebook: “My uncle Deban Al Dab’an in the custody of God as a result of the criminal shelling of the regime and Russia criminals and their helpers.” According to Hama Now, the victim was displaced from the town of Al Mughayir.

According to the Facebook page Al Habit Green, the young man Ahmed Sleiman Alawad had been injured in the strikes. Mahmed Balabass reported “a number of wounded”.

According to the pro-Iran website Al Alam, Al Nusra equipment and vehicles were targeted.

@alhurranews shared a photo of a Syrian Civil Defence volunteer rescuing a cat from underneath the rubble.

Sources were conflicted as to whether Russia or the regime was to blame, with reports stating that helicopters dropped explosive barrels on the town.

Airwars assessment

Up to four civilians died including women and children in alleged Russia and/or regime airstrikes on a car fleeing Abdin, local media reported.

Sources reported that an initial strike destroyed homes and that residents attempting to flee in a car were then hit.

According to Smart News, a total of six civilians including two women were killed as a result of explosive barrels dropped from regime helicopters on the town.

The lowest death count was given by Alaraby at one woman, with a second woman wounded.

According to the Syrian Civil Defense, “after the destruction of their towns and homes, Syrian regime planes pursued and killed civilians fleeing from death. The death of a woman and her two children, the wounding of another woman and the death of a baby, occurred when the regime targeted a car in Abdin”.

According to Rok Online, “Activists said three people, including a woman, were killed as a result of Russian aircraft targeting some families who were trying to flee the aerial bombardment of the village of Abdin, north of Idlib.”

According to Macro Media Center “Two men and a woman from the town of Muraddatin were injured by a warplane targeting a car carrying a number of displaced persons at the junction of the town of Abdin and the southern suburb of Idlib”.

@HalabTodayTV added that the car was struck on on the road Habit – Abdin.

@syrialive54  laid the blame for this with regime helicopters.

The incident occured in the afternoon.
