An eight year old child was killed and his two brothers injured when cluster munition exploded in the city of Hraytan north of Aleppo. Local sources reported that the cluster munition was a remnant of earlier Russian or regime shelling.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights said that the cluster bomb had been dropped by “the Syrian-Russian alliance” – though most other sources pointed solely to Russia.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights said “The child Ibrahim Jaqlan was killed on February 9th, in the explosion of a cluster munition of remnants of previous shelling by Syrian- Russian alliance forces on Hraitan town in Aleppo governorate northern suburbs.”

Between seven and nine civilians died and several others were wounded when remnants from a cluster bomb or landmine allegedly dropped by either Russia or the Assad regime back in 2017 exploded in Wadi al-Azeeb on February 8th 2019.

Halab Today reported: “According to the correspondent of Halab Today, the explosions killed seven people and a number of sheep”.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights blamed “several landmines”, while other sources mentioned remnants from cluster bombs.

Baladi put the death toll at nine and said that the landmine exploded on” a civilian car”.

Mena-monitor also reported that civilian vehicles were blown up by the munition remnants.

A number of injuries among civilians were reported after an alleged Russian forces or Syrian regime forces rocket attack on Kafar Nubul in Idlib on January 28th, 2019 according to sources on the ground.

abds02747 tweeted that “Hossam al-Hassani and Mohammed al-Khatib were injured by the rocket attack that targeted the city of kafr Nubul.”

Smart News was one of several sources that blamed the Russian forces, claiming that the rocket was launched from a base in the village Qubaybat Abu Hud. “Civilians were injured in a missile attack by Russian forces on the town of Kafr Nubul south of Idlib from its headquarters in the village of Qubaybat Abu Huda.”

However, other sources blamed the Syrian regime.

Two women were wounded by alleged Russian or Syrian regime artillery shelling on Mourek, 27 kilometres north of Hama, on January 23rd, according to local media.

Smart News Agency reported that two women had been injured by artillery shelling on the city of Mourek. Ahmad Makhad, from the media department with the Syrian Civil Defence, stated that “the Russian troops stationed in the camp of the village of Kubaybat al Huda targeted the city with heavy artillery, wounding two women lightly. [The women] were taken to a nearby medical point.”

While most sources blamed Russia, Baladi reported: “Regime forces used artillery and rocket launchers on the towns and villages of Kafrzita and Altamna and Mourek and Janaibah and Mork and Hawiz, resulting in the injury of a number of civilians”.

12-year-old girl Mariam Mahmoud Hassan Rahhal was reported killed in alleged Russian or Syrian regime artillery strikes on Kfar Zeita, north-east of Souran in the northern suburb of Hama. Two other civilians were wounded, whom according to some sources, were children as well. 

Smart News Agency reported “the killing of a girl and wounding two others in artillery shelling by Russian forces on the town of Kafr Zeita, north of Hama, from their location in the village of Kobeibat Huda.”

Enab Baladi reported a “number of injured civilians”, whereas other sources such as Smart News Agency reported specifically two injured civilians. According to the Syrian Civil Defence, the two injured victims were also children.
