Two boys were injured when an unexploded cluster bomb of a previous alleged Russian air raid exploded in the village of Tal Bajir, Aleppo governorate, on October 3rd, 2018, according to local sources. The bomb was reportedly fired a year before it exploded.

@neoIRT wrote that “two children were injured when a cluster bomb exploded from the remnants of the Russian bombing on Tal Bajir village in the southern countryside of Aleppo.” @Zitan_media reported that the victims were 12-year-old Ahmed Al Ahmad and 14-year-old Mahmoud Al Ahmad from the village of Bans.

Ibrahim Abu Leith, a Syrian Civil Defence spokesperson for the region, told Smart News Agency that the shell was a remnant of Russian airstrikes a year earlier. The boys were reportedly letting the sheep graze when they encountered the explosive.

According to Abu Leith, one of the children was seriously injured, whereas the other’s condition was stabilised. The Syrian Civil Defence has been trying to mark areas with remnants of bombings so that they can be removed.

All sources pointed to Russian forces as responsible for the unexploded ordnance.

However, Edlib Media Center said the cluster bomb is a remnant of a previous Russian bombing. “Four children were injured in the city of Khan Sheikhon in rural Idlib by a cluster bomb explosion left by a former Russian bombing.”

Shaam Network reported “The Russian planes, the warlords and the helicopter continued to launch heavy air raids on the cities and towns of the province amid artillery and missile attacks. [] While the cities of Qal’t Al Madiq,Al Arba’in, Al Sakher, Al Jisat,M’arbaka, Myadan Ghazal, Al Huwayz, Al Twina, Bab Al Taqqa, Al Hamra, Al Karkat and Al Shari’a in northern and western countryside were targets of artillery and missile bombing.”

Rozana said “Civilians were killed and injured as a result of the resumption of the Syrian regime and Russia’s bombing attacks on the towns of rural Idlib and Hama, after the failure of the tripartite summit (Russia, Iran and Turkey) around Idlib.” A source from Syrian Civil Defence told Rozana that “”the aerial bombardment resulted in the death of a number of civilians, including children, and the wounding of others in towns including Habit, Khan Sheikhoun and Abdin in the southern Idlib countryside, Kafr Zita, Qalaat al-Madiq and other villages in Hama countryside.”

Local sources said that also a militant who belongs to the National Liberation Front was killed in these attacks.
