On 6 January 2017, Russia, however, reported: “Since November 8, 2016, the aircraft carrier group of the Northern Fleet consisting of the heavy aircraft carrying cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov, the heavy nuclear missile cruiser Pyotr Velikiy, the large ASW ship Severomorsk, as well as auxiliary vessels of the Black Sea Fleet, has been fulfilling counterterrorist missions on the territory of Syria”, adding that ”in the course of two months of their participation in the combat actions, naval aviation pilots have carried out 420 combat sorties, 117 of them were night ones.”

Additionally, Russia reported that its air forces have carried out strikes in Aleppo during November and December 2016.

Twelve civilians died in an alleged Russian airstrike on Aleppo’s Al Kalassa neighbourhood, local media reported.

According to the Syrian Network for Human Rights, “12 victims died in suspected Russian warplanes missiles fired on Al Kalasa neighborhood in Aleppo city, December 7, 2016.”

LCCSY also put the death toll at 12 and blamed Russia.

Halab News named victim (below), adding that 12 further unidentified civilians had been killed by Russian warplanes.

Halabtoday reported that “two civilians were wounded after an aerial bombardment and artillery attack on Al-Kalasah and Bustan Al-Qasr neighborhoods in Aleppo”.

Local sources reported that up to seven civilians, including at least one woman, were killed and more than twenty were left wounded following air and/or artillery shelling of Bustan al-Qasr, Aleppo. The sources, however, were unclear as to whether the incident was caused by Russia or the Assad regime.

The sources reported the death of between two and seven victims and identified one man and one woman by name. The highest number of wounded was given by Aletihadpress, reporting  “dozens” injured.

There were  reports about the use of both airstrikes and artillery. Several sources also mentioned that helicopters dropped explosive barrels containing suffocating chlorine gasses, attributing blame to the Syrian regime.

Between four and seven civilians were killed as warplanes and possibly artillery attacked the neighbourhood of Ma’adi, Aleppo, local sources reported. However, were it was unclear whether the strikes were carried out by Russia or the Syrian regime.

The incident was reportedly part of a larger aerial shelling of Aleppo, that in total killed and wounded “dozens” on December 8th 2016, Aletihad Press News reported. According to that source, the shelling of Ma’adi led to seven civilian fatalities.

No known sources mentioned how many wounded the strikes in Ma’adi caused.

Local sources reported that air or artillery strikes killed up four civilians as they struck the neighbourhood of al-Ansari, Aleppo. The responsible belligerent was, however, unclear with one source pointing to the Syrian regime and another two attributing the incident to Russia.

The incident was reportedly part of a larger aerial shelling of Aleppo, that in total killed and wounded “dozens” on December 8th 2016, Aletihad Press News reported. According to that source, the shelling of al-Ansari led to four civilian fatalities.

@abdulrahm55an41 published a video from the aftermath of the shelling, showing the dead body of one civilian man.

Despite the general reporting from Aleppo, no known sources mentioned the number of wounded in al-Ansari that day.
