Airwars assessment

A girl was killed and as many as six other civilians were wounded following a parachute missile attack on a residential neighbourhood in Lataminah, local media reported. Sources were conflicted as to who was to blame, with some blaming the Syrian regime and others blaming Russian warplanes.

Halab Today reported that huge fire broke out in a residential building as a result of the attack.

Additionally, later reports claimed that  some of the injuries were serious.

According to Smart News “The Syrian civil defence also documented the killing of a civilian and the wounding of six others, following an air strike”.

Members of the civil defence worked to recover the wounded from the rubble and assist to their wounds.

Up to three civilians were killed, and others were wounded – including a child – following an air and artillery strike in Douma, according to local sources. Sources were conflicted as to who was to blame for the raids. Some sources blamed Russia, while most blamed the Syrian regime. The Syrian Network for Human Rights blamed the “Russian-Syrian alliance”.

In a video which was initially published by the White Helmets and republished by Douma coordination, members of the White Helmets rescued an injured man. The rescue party is then struck by another raid. One member of the team is seen holding a child.

Additionally, one source claims that the civil defence teams were specifically targeted by the warplanes.

A child was pictured as wounded in the strike.

According to Syria Mirror, residential areas and “vital centres” were caught up in the bombardment and partially destroyed.

Between eight and 10 civilians were wounded in alleged Russian airstrikes with cluster  bombs on Mardikh, according to sources on the ground.

The Smart News Agency reported: “eight civilians were wounded on Wednesday [April 29th] after an air strike on the town of Mardikh (20 km southeast of Idlib) in the north of the country, the civil defense told SMART.

“The commander of the civil defense team in Sarakib, Laith al-Abdullah, said that cluster bomb attacks targeted the town of Mardikh, where defense workers were working to rescue the wounded and move them to hospitals in the area. Militants said the raids were from the Russian air force.”

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights – who didn’t identify the “waplanes” – ten people were wounded.

Idlib Media Centre made no mention of civilian harm but said that “nine militants from Failak al Sham were injured following Russian raids on the outskirts of Tal Markikh south of Saraqeb. ”

The Syrian Network for Human Rights published an “image of unexploded cluster munitions type AO-2.5RTM / AO-2.5RT fired by suspected Russian warplanes”.

There were an unspecific number of civilian deaths and wounded, in an air and artillery strike which targeted the Grand Mosque of Al-Zahra in Anadan, Aleppo, according to local media. Sources were conflicted as to who was to blame. Some blamed the Syrian regime, while others blamed Russia for the strikes.

Sources reported that surface to surface missiles were used in the raid, as were mortar shells, rocket propelled grenade launchers and general artillery shelling. Step news reported that phosphorous bombs were used – they are internationally banned. 

According to Smart News, “field activists said that Russian warplanes attacked the city of ‘Adnan with rocket-propelled grenades and mortar shells, followed by heavy artillery and surface-to-surface missiles, causing several civilian casualties, as well as fire.”
