Airwars assessment

At least one civilian was killed in alleged Russian airstrikes against the town of Saraqeb, according to local sources.

A member of the Civil Defence in the city, Laith al-Abdullah, reported the incident and the casualty estimate to Smart News Agency, which was the only source to report on the incident. Smart News Agency also attributed the strike as likely to have been carried out by Russian planes.

It was reported by Step that there were more than three strikes on the vicinity.

Residential housing and a vegetable market were both struck and damaged during the raids.

The incident occured during the night.

Airwars assessment

Twelve members of the militant group “Hayat Tahrir Al Sham” – also known as al-Qaeda – were reportedly killed in airstrikes on Al-Rahjan. A woman was also reportedly killed.

Smart News Agency said that “warplanes are likely to be Russian bombed a vehicle belonging to the organisation  during the transfer of members to change shifts guard”. Abu Abbas Klali, Hamza al-Iraqi and Abu Aisha Mohammedbal were all leaders of the group who were killed in there raid.

Syrian Observatory reported there were wounded, however it is unclear whether they were civilians or other members of al-Qaeda.

A volunteer of the Syrian Civil Defense was killed as he was on duty in Ghadafa, Idlib, local media and family members reported.

The victim, Ahmed Ali Al-Mustafa, and his Civil Defense team were reportedly inspecting a bombing site when the strike took place.

The victim’s brother wrote on his Twitter account, Apdlrahmah, about the death of his brother and how  “he and a group of his comrades were subjected to a double raid by fighter jets as they inspected the bombing site in the village of Al-Ghadfa where the group was directly targeted.”

Syrian Network for Human Rights (SN4HR) mentioned in its reporting that he was from Hama.

Only SN4HR identified a culprit and pointed to Russia. The remaining reports merely referred to “warplanes” and “fighter jets”.
