Four civilians were reported killed and others wounded in alleged Russian or Syrian regime airstrikes on Ma’aret Al Nu’man, Idlib, on August 14th.

Step Agency tweeted that “three civilians, including a woman, have been killed and others injured due to raids targeting the city of Ma’ret Al Nu’man, south of Idlib.”

Meanwhile Shaam News and Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that “four citizens including a woman were killed in bombardment by the regime’s warplanes on Maarrat Al-Nu’man city.”

Justice Organisation named two men killed as Mohammad Ziad Al-Hamidi and Mustafa Al-Hamwi. @Ahmad_1alshble and the Syrian Human Rights Committee added names of two female victims Sanaa Al-Asfar and Nour Al-Hassawi. 

Two sources did not positively attribute blame, while Russian forces and the Syrian regime were named by three sources in reports of the incident. Shaam News attributed sole responsibility to the Syrian regime.

One civilian was reported killed and others injured in airstrikes on Bdama, Idlib, on August 14th.

Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that “a citizen was killed as a result of rocket shelling that targeted Bdama town in Jisr Al-Shughur countryside west of Idlib.”

Bdama Voice named the civilian killed as Ahmad Mohammed Abdo. Bdama voice said that Ahmad himself had lost two brothers and a son.

Mohammed Hussam who sounds as a neighbor of the victim posted on Facebook mourning him. “Ahmed Abdo Abu Muhammad, a good neighbor, friend, a good-hearted man with a smile that does not miss his face despite the pain and wounds he experienced by losing two brothers and his son Muhammad at the hands of the Assadist gangs, and a lover of his revolution and loyal to it, martyred yesterday as a result of the missile strikes that targeted the town of Bdama.”

Three other sources cited this fatality, and Edlib Media Center also cited “several wounded” in the attack.

Three sources did not positively attribute blame, while one source referred to Russian forces, and another to the Syrian regime, in reporting the incident.

The agency reported unspecified  “wounded in all of Kfarsjnh, Kfroma, Tarmla, Bskla, Kfarbasin, Kfarwasid, Sheikh Mustafa, Alrkaya, Umm Zaytouna, Umm Jalal, Teraa, Almanmah, Hish, Altah, Mardam, Sfohn, Mufuqat, Mukha, Krishah, Hasba, Hass, Sheikh Dams, Maarat Horma, Jabalra, Knezvhra,  Maarat Mater, Najda and Kinda.”

In the first of two consecutive airstrikes near Ma’ret Harma, Idlib, two medical workers for Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) were reported killed on August 14th.

SMAS USA reported “a SAMS-supported ambulance center in Ma’aret Hurmeh in southern Idlib province was targeted by six airstrikes, resulting in the death of two employees: Mohamad Hussni Mishnen, 29, a paramedic, and Fadi Alomar, 34, an ambulance driver. The facility  and the ambulance were completely destroyed.”

Macro Media Center reported that “a driver and paramedic from SAMS medical system were killed after a double Russian airstrike on Maaret Harma town south of Idlib.”

Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that “a driver in the ambulance team and a male nurse were killed, after being targeted by the Russian warplanes that targeted the area between Maarrat Hurmah and Sheikh Mustafa south of Idlib.”

@SyrianCoalition tweeted that “Mohammad Mishnen, 29, a paramedic doctor, and Fadi, 34, the driver of an ambulance in the SAMS ambulance system in Hama countryside, was killed by a direct airstrike from #Russian occupation yesterday morning.”

While sources predominantly named Russia as the belligerent responsible for the attack, a number of sources named both the Syrian regime and Russian forces in reports of the incident.

In the second of two consecutive airstrikes near Ma’ret Harma, Idlib, a volunteer from Syria Civil Defense was reported killed on August 14th.

This was following a previous airstrike which killed two ambulance workers from SAMS.

Macro Media Center reported that “a volunteer in the Civil Defense […was] killed after a double Russian air strike on Maaret Harma town south of Idlib.”

Syria Civil Defense stated “the Syrian Civil Defense mourns one of its volunteers, Younis Balouz, from Idlib Directorate, Ma’rat Harmah Center, killed by a double raid by Russian warplanes, while he was carrying out his humanitarian duty to rescue civilians after the first target of a medical point in Bsiqa village in Idlib countryside.”

Etilaf News reported that the attack “coincided with intensive bombardments of 29 points in the countryside of Idlib and Hama, [leaving] dozens of martyrs and wounded.

This source quoted Syria Civil Defense stating that “Younis Balouz” gave “his soul for humanitarian work, adding that he sought to help people after the airstrikes, and rescue the wounded from under the rubble [He] gave a lot of effort and sweat.”

All sources named Russia as the belligerent responsible for the attack.
