Airwars assessment

Seven people were reported killed in alleged Russian or regime raids on Bab Al-Hadeed, Aleppo.

Syria News blamed Russia for “warplane shelling in various areas in Aleppo including Bab Al-Hadeed.” Halab News equally blamed Russia in a YouTube video covering the first moments of shelling. However, Islam Memo said “the regime launched 8 warplane raids in Bab Al Hadeed”.

Halab Today also blamed the regime in a tweet, saying: “Activists warn people not to get close to the cluster bombs which were thrown by regime warplane in Bab Al Hadeed.”

Other sources did not state who was responsible for the raids.

LCCSY reported that 7 people were killed in warplane shelling on Bab Al-Hadeed. The same was reported by Alamawi and Al Jazeera in tweets, but none attributed responsibility.

In a video by AMC the White Helmets can be seen recovering a body from under the rubble in Bab Al Hadeed. Aba_272 also tweeted pictures of a rescue operation. Lastly, a video posted on Facebook by Halab Alshuhada showes the “destruction of the shelling on Bab Al-Hadeed, Albasha street.”

Airwars assessment

In a summary of Russian raids carried out on April 28th, LCCSY said three civilians had died in two strikes on Sakhour. RFS News also blamed Russia, reporting “a martyr and a number of wounded in Russian shelling by missiles on Al-Sakhur”. However, several other sources blamed the regime instead.

According to the Syrian Network, regime shelling claimed one victim. Likewise, in a tweet, AJABreaking spoke of “dead and a number of injured in regime raids on Al-Sakhur, Aleppo”. Halab news showed the destruction allegedly caused by regime shelling on Al-Sakhur. RadioAlkul equally blamed the regime, but put the death toll at two and spoke of “a number of wounded civilians”. In a tweet, Shahed_Ayan spoke of a “new massacre by regime warplanes targeting residential buildings in Qadi Askar”. Al-Buraq Media institution also blamed the regime and said “1 got killed in Al-Sakhour”.

However, Shaam News Network referred to both regime and Russian planes carrying out strikes in Aleppo in recent days, and did not specify which of these was responsible. They said that one civilian died in Sakhour.

Step News also reported the incident, saying that “[a] wareplane targeted the following neighbourhoods in Aleppo: Bei’deen, Al-Harableh, Al Ard Al-Hamra, Al-Sakhur, Al-Marjeh, Tareeq Al-Bab, Al-Salheen”, but did not say who was responsible.

One victim of “warplane shelling” (the planes were not identified) was named by the Violations Documentation Center as 13-year-old Abdulqader Mohammad al-Masri, though the date of his death (April 29th) is one day out from this incident.

The local time of the incident is unknown.

Airwars assessment

Up to 20 civilians including four children died in airstrikes on Bustam al Qasr, according to local sources – though reports were conflicted as to whether this was the work of Russia or the Assad regime.

The White Helmets initially reported that “more than 20 martyrs and dozens wounded as well as an entire residential building destroyed when warplanes targeted homes in bustan al qasr with vacuum missiles“, though they did not say who was responsible.

However, a second report blamed the regime, and put the death toll at 12 with 30 wounded.

Reports by the Syrian Network for Human Rights also blamed the regime.

But in a later report, SN4HR changed its position and blamed Russia, saying that of the nine killed four were children.

In a summary of Russian raids carried out on April 28th, LCCSY also said 12 had died.

Shaam News referred to both regime and Russian planes carrying out strikes in Aleppo in recent days, and did not specify which of these was responsible.

Airwars assessment

Up to 18 civilians including two children died in airstrikes on Al Kalassa, according to local sources. While most blamed the regime, others alleged that Russia was responsible.

At least eight died when “suspected Russian warplanes missiles” fired on the neighborhood, according to the Syrian Network for Human Rights. In a later report it put the death toll higher at 10, including two children, with 10 other non-combatants injured. A tweet posted a picture of one of the victims.

In a summary of Russian raids carried out on April 28th, LCCSY also said 15 had died in two strikes. Qasyoun News also blamed Russia in a tweet, as did Amawi news, citing Halab News. However, testimony in a video by Umayya News said the regime carried out strikes on Al Kalassa, and that “many people working in the restaurant died and a family“, though numbers were not given.

Ara News also blamed the regime, while a later video by Qasyoun News cited testimony saying “so far we have retrieved more than 15 bodies, torn apart to pieces, of men, women and children. And civil defense is still trying to rescue people from the rubble.”

The White Helmets said 14 died, and also blamed the regime.

Likewise, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the regime was responsible for all incidents in Aleppo over the previous seven days. It was cited in an article by BBC Arabic, which stated: “Among the dead in Aleppo over the past seven days, [there are] 34 children and 20 women, according to the Syrian Observatory (…).” Shaam News Network referred to both regime and Russian planes carrying out strikes in Aleppo in recent days, and did not specify which was responsible. Al Jazeera also  referred to both Russia and the Syrian regime and listed eight videos showing death and destruction in Aleppo.

Al-Buraq Media Institution put the number killed higher at 18, but did not say who was responsible. In a later report it said that 44 people, of which 18 in Al Kallassa, were killed by the regime in various strikes in Aleppo that day.

MBC news shared 30 photos from various places in Aleppo that were the targets of shelling. The source did not specify where each photo one was taken. Ahmad Seif published photos on Facebook of children wounded that day in Bustan Al-Qaser.

The local time of the incident is unknown.
