Airwars assessment

At least one civilian, a child, was injured in alleged Russian or regime strikes on villages of Al Sahen on August 6, 2021.

@HalabTodayTV reported that “Regime forces and Russia target with laser-guided missiles the villages of Al-Sahn in Al-Ghab Plain and Joseph in Jabal Al-Zawiya, causing the injury of a child”.

Syrian Civil Defense also posted that a child was injured in the strikes and a tweet from @mohmad_rasheed included an image of a young boy with injuries to his face.

A tweet from @7WE4UNp8FButyw4 identified the shells used as laser-guided, along with various other sources.

Sources were conflicted as to who was responsible, with multiple sources attributing the strikes to both Russia and the regime while @mzmgr941pointed out that both Russian and Iranian reconnaissance planes were flying close by.

The local time of the incident is unknown.

Airwars assessment

At least two civilians, including a woman, were injured in alleged Russian or regime strikes on Al Ziyadiya on August 7, 2021.

@OrientNews and other sources identified civilians as being injured but did not provide a number of how many.

Syrian Civil Defense posted that the strikes on Al Ziyadiya “resulted in the injury of a woman and a man”.

A tweet from @anasanas84 reported that “incendiary napalm” was used in the strikes and Syrian Network for Human Rights added that the strikes included “missile launcher with internationally prohibited weapons “Napalm”.

@IdlibPlus pointed out that the shelling occurred in the vicinity of a Turkish checkpoint.

The majority of sources attributed the strikes to the regime forces and @syr_television specifically identified regime sources “stationed in Jorin camp” as being responsible for the strikes. Syrian Civil Defense identified both the regime and Russia as carrying out bombings in the Idlib countryside but didn’t attribute this strike explicitly to either.

The local time of the incident is unknown.

Airwars assessment

Between two and five civilians, including two to five children that were all siblings, were killed and five to six others, including a child, were injured by Russian and/or regime shelling in the village of Qastoun on the night of August 7th, 2021, multiple sources reported.

In a tweet, the Syrian Civil Defence named the children killed as Ibrahim, Fatima, Youssef and Omar. SN4HR reported their family name as al Na’san. Multiple other sources listed the same names, while images circulating on social media showed the bodies of four young children. The alleged shelling reportedly hit their house.

There were however some differences in the reporting over who was killed. Baladi put the death toll at four, but said only two of those were children; 11-year-old Ibrahim Abdul-Basit Rifaat Al-Na’san and 8-year-old Yousef Abdul-Basit Rifaat Al-Na’asan. One source, Jesr Press, listed different names for the victims; Madiha Al-Jablawi, Hassan Al-Naasan, Muhammad Hamid Al-Naasan, Ibrahim Al-Naasan, Refaat Al-Naasan, and Father Hussein Al-Nasser. It was however not clear whether these were injuries or deaths, and it cited the Syrian Civil Defence as the source which did not provide these names in its tweet on the incident. Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported five children’s deaths.

The Syrian Civil Defence said five others were injured, some of which were critical. Facebook user Loa’i Al noted that four members of the family had suffered injuries (although listed six names) with two people, named as Aziza and Abdul Karim, both having a foot amputated. @ameerbaak shared an image of Aziza, who appeared to be a child, in the hospital.

Syrian Civil Defence Ali Al-Omar was quoted talking about his experience responding to the incident. He said: “The pain of the child’s uncle when he grabbed me by the shoulder in the ambulance and called out in his grieving voice, ‘For God’s sake, Ibrahim died. Do something for God’s sake.’ In these moments I felt the blood freeze in my body and the voices overlapped, the moaning of pain, the screams of separation, the sound of the ambulance, and thoughts running fast.”

The vast majority of sources implicated regime forces, however the Syrian Civil Defence said the casualties were caused by regime and Russian artillery shelling. SN4HR noted the use of a missile launcher by regime forces.

The incident occured during the night.

The victims were named as:

Airwars assessment

At least two civilians were injured in alleged Russian or regime artillery and missile strikes on Ariha on August 7, 2021.

Zaman Al Wasl reported that “two civilians were injured, one of them in a serious condition, this afternoon, Saturday, as a result of intense artillery and missile shelling by the regime forces, which targeted residential neighborhoods and the outskirts of the city of “Jericho” in the western countryside of Idlib.” They also added that “the city of “Ariha” includes a large number of displaced families from the countryside of Idlib, Hama and Aleppo, in addition to new families who were displaced in recent weeks from the Jabal al-Zawiya area, south of Idlib governorate, due to the escalation of the regime forces and Russia and the perpetration of massacres against civilians.

Syrian Civil Defense also identified two civilians as being injured. @ShahbaPress and @syr_television both tweeted that civilians were injured but did not provide a toll of how many were injured.

Sources were conflicted as to who was responsible for the strikes, with the majority attributing the strikes to the regime while @rahhalahmad06 blamed Russia. In addition, “Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Idlib reported today, Saturday, August 7, that the regime forces and Russia targeted the outskirts of the city of Idlib this morning, to return and bombard residential neighborhoods in Ariha, after a continuous bombing campaign since the beginning of last June.”

At least one civilians was killed and three others, including a child, were injured in alleged Russian, Iranian or regime artillery shelling on the town of Ain Larouz on August 8, 2021.

@syriapostnew1 reported that “a civilian was killed and 3 others were wounded as a result of artillery shelling by the Syrian regime forces targeting the town of Ain Larouz.”

A “Zaman Al-Wasl” reporter said that a civilian in his thirties died this morning, and three others, including a child, were injured. Step News identified some of the injuries as being serious.

The correspondent of Radio Al-Kul in the province said that “the regime bombed with several artillery shells agricultural lands and civilian homes in the village of Ain Larouz”.

The majority of sources attributed the strikes to the regime, specifically “regime forces stationed in the vicinity of the city of Kafranbel” according to Step News, and identified Russian laser guided Krasnopol shells as being used in the strikes. However, a tweet from @SbmjMS3nXS7DzvE blamed “the Russian and Iranian occupation militia” for the missiles and Zaman Al-Wasl assigned responsibility to the Russian-backed “25th Special Task Force”.

Up to two children were killed in regime and/or Russian shelling in the village of Tadel in the countryside of Aleppo on August 10th, 2021, according to multiple sources.

The majority of sources reported the death of one child and the injury of two of her siblings. The child who died was named by four sources as Rayan al-Hassan, while two others named her as Lian al-Hassan. She was reportedly one and half years old.
