According to the Violations Documentation Center and others, six civilian males were reported killed in an alleged Russian airstrike in the vicinity of the Aisha hospital in Al Bukamal. According to Deir Ezzor 24, eight rockets or missiles were launched on the town. However, the Syrian Observatory has attributed the attack to the US-led Coalition.

No further information is available at the present time.

In their January 2020 civilian casualty report, the US-led Coalition assessed reports that they were responsible for civilian harm in this strike as “non-credible”, stating that no Coalition actions were conducted in the geographical area at that time.

The Union of Hamas Rebels reported that one child who was killed – and two or more people injured – in alleged Russian airstrikes on the village of Al Karat.

The VDC also named the boy, who it said had died “Due to the Russian air forces shelling of Karakat village.” The Syrian News Desk said the attack was part of heavy air raids by Russia around Al Karkat that day “wounding dozens of civilians in varying degrees of severity, with the child victim transferred to the medical point in the village, as the shelling also resulted in the destruction of 10 houses or more.”

The White Helmets reported the death of one man and the injuring of his wife, following several alleged Russian airstrikes during the evening on the town of Al Rahiba.

However the VDC reported the death of an unnamed civilian male “due to regime`s army forces shelling.” And the Free Syrian Army noted only that an “unidentified martyr died following a bombardment on the town.”

Russian vacuum missiles allegedly targeted a key bakery in Al Atarib, taking it completely out of service. Reports said the bakery served more than 100,000 people (apparently confirmed by activists). There were no reports of casualties, but the Syrian Network for Human Rights said the bakery was the “greatest in the western region of Aleppo suburbs“, providing bread to 13 neighbourhoods. Some 200 tonnes of flour was also reportedly destroyed.

Airwars assessment

One civilian factory worker was killed and two injured in an alleged Russian missile strike on the Atlas Factory for cotton in Hayyan, according to the Syrian Network for Human Rights and the Violations Documentation Centre.

The VDC published an image (right) of the unnamed victim. In a separate report, it has also listed 35-year old from Tamura village as killed on the same day in Hayyan, though by “regime forces’ shelling with a surface-to-surface missile.” It is possible these are the same events.

Accordingly to Shaam News, Russian warplanes launched a long-range missile targeting the factory. Warehouses were also reportedly damaged, with a video posted depicting the shelling aftermath, in which a fire broke out.

A seven-year-old boy was reported killed and five of his family members injured, following an alleged Russian airstrike at Kafr Halab or nearby. A second child may also have died.

Location reporting for this event remains confused. Chicken sheds were reported destroyed and civilian deaths alleged at Kafr Halab; near Kafr Daryan; and in the Regiment 46 area.

Providing some detail, media activist Abu Ayyub Al Safrani told the Syrian News Desk that “Russian warplanes targeted a chicken shed inhabited by displaced families from the countryside south of Aleppo, killing a seven-year-old boy and injuring five members of his family.” Some were taken to Turkey for treatment due to the seriousness of their injuries he said.
