On Sept. 19, coalition military forces conducted 29 strikes against ISIL terrorists in Syria and Iraq. In Syria, coalition military forces conducted nine strikes using attack, bomber, and fighter against ISIL targets. Additionally in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 20 strikes coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq using attack, bomber, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft and rocket artillery against ISIL targets. Syria

* Near Abu Kamal, one strike destroyed an ISIL well head.

* Near Ar Raqqah, one strike destroyed an ISIL barracks.

* Near Dayr Az Zawr, three strikes destroyed seven oil tanker trucks and damaged two supply routes.

* Near Mar’a, four strikes engaged an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed a command and control node and three IEDs.

Iraq

* Near Al Baghdadi, three strikes destroyed an ISIL bunker and two command and control nodes.

* Near Al Huwayjah, one strike engaged an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed a vehicle.

* Near Fallujah, one strike engaged an ISIL tactical unit.

* Near Kisik, one strike engaged an ISIL tactical unit.

* Near Mosul, four strikes engaged four ISIL tactical units and destroyed a vehicle.

* Near Qayyarah, four strikes engaged two ISIL tactical units and a communications facility and destroyed a vehicle, a heavy weapons system, and a checkpoint.

* Near Ramadi, two strikes [2 British] engaged an ISIL tactical unit and a staging area and destroyed two heavy machine guns, a weapons cache, two command and control nodes, and two logistics hubs.

* Near Rawah, one strike destroyed an ISIL vehicle storage facility.

* Near Sinjar, one strike engaged an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed a weapons cache and suppressed a mortar position.

* Near Sultan Abdallah, one strike destroyed an ISIL mortar system and a supply cache.

* Near Tal Afar, one strike [1 British] destroyed an ISIL tunnel entrance, a vehicle, a supply cache, a mortar system, a building, and nine fighting positions.

Monday 19 September – Tornados struck three targets in northern and western Iraq…Operations in the area north of Ramadi continued on Monday 19 September, when Tornados used an Enhanced Paveway II guided bomb to destroy a Daesh supply store, and two Paveway IVs to destroy a neighbouring headquarters. Tornados also operated over north-western Iraq, where a Brimstone missile was used to destroy a terrorist vehicle spotted some ten miles north-west of Tall Afar.

On Sept. 18, coalition military forces conducted 28 strikes against ISIL terrorists in Syria and Iraq. In Syria, coalition military forces conducted 16 strikes using attack, fighter and remotely piloted aircraft and rocket artillery against ISIL targets. Additionally in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 12 strikes coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq using attack, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft and rocket artillery against ISIL targets. * Near Sinjar, one strike destroyed an ISIL vehicle and suppressed a mortar system.

* Near Sultan Abdallah, one strike engaged an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed a medium machine gun and suppressed a rocket-propelled grenande system.

Sunday 18 September – Typhoons bombed several terrorist targets in western Iraq, while Tornados hit three targets north of Mosul and a Reaper destroyed a vehicle near Qayyarah…A Reaper was again active near Qayyarah on Sunday 18 September, when it destroyed a terrorist truck with a Hellfire missile. To the north of Mosul, Tornados employed an Enhanced Paveway II and a Paveway IV to strike a Daesh strongpoint and an armed truck, then used a second Paveway IV to attack a group of terrorists on foot. Intelligence had identified a Daesh facility in western Iraq, close to the Syrian border, and Typhoon FGR4s used three Paveway IV bombs against this target, then provided close air support to Iraqi forces operating north-west of Ramadi: three more Paveway IVs accounted for a group of rocket launchers and a weapons cache.

Chammal : nouvelles frappes SCALP contre Daech

Le 18 septembre 2016, les Rafale de la force Chammal ont effectué un raid contre un site du groupe terroriste en utilisant des missiles SCALP.

Quatre avions Rafale armés de missiles de croisière ont détruit un site de Daech dans la région de Mossoul. Centre d’entraînement pour combattants terroristes, ce site était également utilisé comme usine de production d’engins explosifs pour véhicules piégés. Les avions ont réalisé le raid en complète autonomie depuis la base aérienne projetée en Jordanie.

Au cours des quatre derniers jours, les avions de l’armée de l’air française ont poursuivi leurs actions d’appui aux troupes irakiennes au sol et de destruction contre les installations de Daech, notamment dans la région de Mossoul. Ces frappes de la force Chammal, réalisées au sein de la coalition OIR, s’inscrivent dans le renforcement des actions interarmées visant à préparer la prise de la ville de Mossoul, prochain objectif de la coalition.

* Near Hit, two strikes destroyed an ISIL headquarters building, a command and control node, and a weapons facility.
* Near Mosul, one strike engaged an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed a vehicle, two mortar systems, and an artillery system.
* Near Sultan Abdallah, one strike engaged an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed a vehicle.

Additionally, near Dayr Az Zawr, one strike, believed to have engaged an ISIL fighting position, may have mistakenly struck a Syrian military unit and destroyed Syrian military vehicles. The incident is under investigation.

Saturday 17 September – a Reaper took part in a coalition air attack in eastern Syria that was alleged to have struck Syrian regime forces by mistake. Another Reaper provided close air support to Iraqi troops near Qayyarah… On Saturday 17 September, a Reaper joined other coalition aircraft in a strike against a reported Daesh position south of Dayr az Zawr in Syria, but this was later alleged to have in fact been a position held by Syrian regime forces; a detailed investigation into the incident is being conducted by the coalition. In Iraq, however, a second Reaper provided effective close air support to Iraqi forces operating near Qayyarah. The Reaper provided surveillance support to two successful coalition air strikes on Daesh mortar teams, then used its own Hellfire missiles to destroy a 152mm howitzer and its tow vehicle.

Den internationale koalition mod ISIL gennemførte den 17. september 2016 en række angreb på en formodet ISIL-stilling i området omkring Dayr Az Zawr i Syrien.

To danske F-16-fly deltog sammen med andre nationers fly i disse angreb. Angrebet blev stoppet øjeblikkeligt, da der fra russisk side kom meldinger om, at en syrisk militær position var blevet ramt.

Det er naturligvis beklageligt, hvis koalitionen ved en fejl har ramt andet end

ISIL-styrker.

Koalitionen indleder nu en undersøgelse af angrebet. Forsvaret vil samarbejde fuldt ud med koalitionen om undersøgelsen.

Værnsfælles Forsvarskommando har ikke flere kommentarer på nuværende tidspunkt.

Friday 16 September – Tornados destroyed a Daesh-held building in western Iraq…Tornado GR4s patrolled the Euphrates valley in western Iraq on Friday 16 September. North-west of Ramadi, they successfully attacked, using Paveway IV guided bombs, a Daesh-held building.

TAMPA, Fla. – Earlier today Coalition aircraft conducted an airstrike south of Dayr Az Zawr, Syria. Coalition forces believed they were striking a Da’esh fighting position that they had been tracking for a significant amount of time before the strike. The coalition airstrike was halted immediately when coalition officials were informed by Russian officials that it was possible the personnel and vehicles targeted were part of the Syrian military.

The location of the strike is in an area the coalition has struck in the past, and coalition members in the Combined Air Operations Center had earlier informed Russian counterparts of the upcoming strike. It is not uncommon for the Coalition Air Operations Center to confer with Russian officials as a professional courtesy and to deconflict Coalition and Russian aircraft, although such contact is not required by the current U.S. – Russia Memorandum of Understanding on safety of flight.

Syria is a complex situation with various military forces and militias in close proximity, but coalition forces would not intentionally strike a known Syrian military unit, officials said. The coalition will review this strike and the circumstances surrounding it to see if any lessons can be learned.
