On July 28, coalition military forces continued to attack ISIL terrorists in Syria and Iraq. In Syria, coalition military forces conducted 22 strikes using attack, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL targets. Additionally in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted nine strikes coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq using attack, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL targets. The following is a summary of the strikes conducted against ISIL since the last press release:

Syria

* Near Al Shadaddi, one strike destroyed an ISIL vehicle borne improvised explosive device storage area.

* Near Manbij, 19 strikes struck [1-2 British?] 19 separate ISIL tactical units and destroyed 17 ISIL fighting positions, an ISIL heavy machine gun, and two ISIL vehicles.

* Near Mar’a, two strikes struck two ISIL tactical units and destroyed two ISIL fighting positions, one ISIL rocket rail, and an ISIL vehicle.

Iraq

* Near Habbaniyah, one strike struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL fighting position.

Cette semaine, en Irak les forces de sécurité irakiennes ont consolidé leurs positions dans le secteur de Qayyarah, de part et d’autre du Tigre. Daech confirme sa logique de repli défensif autour des villes de Mossoul et d’Alq Qaim, ainsi que sur les axes y conduisant.

En Syrie, les forces démocratiques syriennes progressent lentement vers le centre de Manbij, défendu avec acharnement par Daech. A l’est de Palmyre, Daech est engagé dans de rudes combats pour la défense du carrefour clef de Deir-er-Zor.

ACTIVITES DE LA FORCE CHAMMAL

La force Chammal poursuit la campagne aérienne et les missions de formation et de conseil.

Du 20 au 26 juillet 2016, les aéronefs de l’opération Chammal ont poursuivi leurs missions aériennes contre Daech, en réalisant 37 sorties, dont 28 de bombardement et 9 de recueil de renseignement.

Elles ont permis la réalisation de 6 frappes, aboutissant à la destruction de 10 objectifs de Daech.

5 frappes d’appui au sol ont été réalisées en Irak au cours de la semaine notamment à Qayyarah et Mossoul.

1 frappe planifiée a été conduite en Syrie le 23 juillet dans la région de Raqqah, par quatre Mirage 2000 contre un site de fabrication de véhicules piégés.
