On July 31, coalition military forces continued to attack ISIL terrorists in Syria and Iraq. In Syria, coalition military forces conducted 10 strikes using attack, bomber, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL targets. Additionally in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 10 strikes coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq using rocket artillery and attack, bomber, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL targets. The following is a summary of the strikes conducted against ISIL since the last press release:

Syria

* Near Manbij, eight strikes struck eight separate ISIL tactical units and destroyed five ISIL fighting positions, an ISIL vehicle, and ISIL-used engineering equipment.

* Near Mar’a, two strikes struck two separate ISIL tactical units and destroyed four ISIL fighting positions.

Iraq

* Near Haditha, one strike struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL fighting position.

* Near Hit, one strike struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL vehicle and an ISIL fueling station.

* Near Mosul, two strikes [1 French with others] struck an ISIL headquarters and suppressed an ISIL mortar system.

* Near Qayyarah, three strikes [1 British] struck two separate ISIL tactical units and destroyed four ISIL vehicles, two ISIL mortar systems, an ISIL-used road, and two ISIL assembly areas.

* Near Ramadi, two strikes struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL fighting position, an ISIL vehicle, and an ISIL heavy machine gun.

* Near Tal Afar, one strike struck an ISIL vehicle.

Sunday 31 July – Tornados attacked a group of Daesh terrorists in northern Iraq…Sunday 31 July saw Tornados patrolling near Qayyarah, where they used a Paveway IV to bomb a group of terrorists spotted in the open.

* Near Mosul, three strikes struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL weapons cache and an ISIL assembly area and degraded an ISIL tunnel and suppressed an ISIL mortar system.

* Near Qayyarah, two strikes struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed 15 ISIL rocket rails, 13 ISIL rockets, seven ISIL mortar tubes, an ISIL mortar system, an ISIL artillery piece, and an ISIL supply cache.

* Near Sinjar, one strike suppressed an ISIL mortar system.

* Near Sultan Abdallah, one strike struck an ISIL headquarters.

* Near Haditha, one strike destroyed an ISIL cave entrance and an ISIL tunnel.

Saturday 30 July – a Reaper provided further close air support near Manbij in Syria…A Reaper was again in action over Manbij on Saturday 30 July, when it conducted two attacks with Hellfire missiles on Daesh fighters and also provided targeting assistance to a coalition air strike.

* Near Manbij, 11 strikes struck 10 separate ISIL tactical units and destroyed 12 ISIL fighting positions.

* Near Al Baghdadi, one strike struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed five ISIL rocket rails, an ISIL bunker, and an ISIL storage facility.

* Near Hit, one strike produced inconclusive results.

* Near Manbij, 19 strikes struck [1-2 British?] 19 separate ISIL tactical units and destroyed 17 ISIL fighting positions, an ISIL heavy machine gun, and two ISIL vehicles.

* Near Mar’a, two strikes struck two ISIL tactical units and destroyed two ISIL fighting positions, one ISIL rocket rail, and an ISIL vehicle.

Iraq

* Near Habbaniyah, one strike struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL fighting position.

* Near Haditha, one strike [1 British] destroyed and ISIL bunker.

* Near Hit, two strikes destroyed an ISIL supply cache.

* Near Mosul, two strikes struck two separate ISIL tactical units, and destroyed six ISIL assembly areas, six ISIL weapons caches, four ISIL vehicles, three ISIL-used roads, and two ISIL command and control nodes.

* Near Qayyarah, three strikes [1 British] struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed five ISIL rocket rails, five ISIL boats, three ISIL mortar systems, and an ISIL rocket system.

Thursday 28 July – a Reaper provided close air support to Syrian democratic forces fighting near Manbij, Tornados destroyed a mortar in northern Iraq, and Typhoons bombed a bunker in western Iraq…RAF aircraft continued to provide close air support to the Syrian democratic forces on Thursday 28 July, when a Reaper patrolled the Manbij area. The Reaper’s crew conducted four attacks with Hellfire missiles against several groups of Daesh fighters, and assisted in four further attacks by coalition fast jets. In Iraq, Brimstone-armed Tornados destroyed a mortar near Qayyarah, while a pair of Typhoons used a Paveway IV to strike a Daesh bunker on the shores of Lake Qadisiyah.

Cette semaine, en Irak les forces de sécurité irakiennes ont consolidé leurs positions dans le secteur de Qayyarah, de part et d’autre du Tigre. Daech confirme sa logique de repli défensif autour des villes de Mossoul et d’Alq Qaim, ainsi que sur les axes y conduisant.

En Syrie, les forces démocratiques syriennes progressent lentement vers le centre de Manbij, défendu avec acharnement par Daech. A l’est de Palmyre, Daech est engagé dans de rudes combats pour la défense du carrefour clef de Deir-er-Zor.

ACTIVITES DE LA FORCE CHAMMAL

La force Chammal poursuit la campagne aérienne et les missions de formation et de conseil.

Du 20 au 26 juillet 2016, les aéronefs de l’opération Chammal ont poursuivi leurs missions aériennes contre Daech, en réalisant 37 sorties, dont 28 de bombardement et 9 de recueil de renseignement.

Elles ont permis la réalisation de 6 frappes, aboutissant à la destruction de 10 objectifs de Daech.

5 frappes d’appui au sol ont été réalisées en Irak au cours de la semaine notamment à Qayyarah et Mossoul.

1 frappe planifiée a été conduite en Syrie le 23 juillet dans la région de Raqqah, par quatre Mirage 2000 contre un site de fabrication de véhicules piégés.
