CHAMMAL

SITUATION MILITAIRE DU THÉÂTRE

L’opération Chammal, volet français de l’Opération Inherent Resolve (OIR), poursuit sa mission de lutte contre Daech et continue à appuyer, en Syrie, les Forces Démocratiques Syriennes (FDS), et en Irak les Forces de Sécurité Irakiennes (FSI).

En Irak, dans le Nord Est syrien et dans la Moyenne Vallée de l’Euphrate, la situation sécuritaire est stable. Les FSI comme les FDS y maintiennent la pression contre Daech par le biais de différentes opérations de ratissage et de sécurisation.

ACTIVITÉ DE LA FORCE

La France poursuit son engagement au sein du pilier appui de la coalition à travers la poursuite des opérations aériennes, et au sein du pilier « formation » au profit de l’armée irakienne.

Frappe
Le lundi 24 juin, les Rafale français de la base aérienne projetée au Levant ont réalisé avec succès une mission de frappes planifiées au profit de l’opération Inherent Resolve. L’objectif était un lieu utilisé par des combattants de Daesh pour y stocker des armements et fabriquer des engins explosifs improvisés (IED – Improvised explosive device).

Cette mission a été organisée en coopération avec plusieurs nations de la Coalition.

En Irak, comme en Syrie, les Rafale continuent de contribuer à la réduction du potentiel de Daech, et à appuyer les troupes engagées au sol des FSI et FDS à travers des frappes aériennes, mais également des missions de surveillance et de renseignement.

Fin de détachement pour le ravitailleur français C135

Dans le cadre de l’opération Chammal, le détachement du C135-FR du Groupe de ravitaillement en vol 02.091 « Bretagne », déployé pour la première fois sur la base aérienne d’Al-Udeïd a effectué sa dernière mission, le 20 juin 2019.

Inséré au cœur de l’Opération Inherent Resolve (OIR) depuis le 15 avril 2019, le C135-FR a été déployé en appui des aéronefs de la Coalition pour participer à la lutte contre Daech. Contribuant pour la 14e fois à l’opération Chammal, cet aéronef a totalisé durant son détachement plus de 270 heures de vol étalées sur 42 missions de ravitaillement en vol.

Au sein de la Coalition, le tanker est placé sous le commandement tactique du centre de commandement interallié des opérations aériennes (Combined Air Operations Center – CAOC) à Al Udeïd. Pouvant transporter jusqu’à 90 tonnes de carburant et équipé de deux nacelles souples sous voilure et d’une perche rigide ventrale, il garantit ainsi à tous les aéronefs de la Coalition la réactivité, l’allonge stratégique et l’endurance nécessaires aux missions d’appui des Forces démocratiques syriennes (FDS) en Syrie et des Forces de sécurité Irakiennes (FSI) en Irak.

Disposant d’un excellent taux de disponibilité malgré des conditions climatiques extrêmes, allant jusqu’à plus de 50 °C, cet appareil a pu ravitailler plus de 190 avions. Tout un ensemble d’aéronefs engagés dans la Coalition, F16, F15 et Harrier américains, Eurofighter britanniques et italiens, Tornados allemands et Rafale français se sont vu délivrer pas moins de 900 tonnes de carburant au bout des nacelles ou perche de ce C135-FR.

Doté d’une grande réactivité, l’équipage de l’appareil a démontré ses facultés en assurant un vol opérationnel dès le surlendemain de son arrivée ainsi que la veille de son départ de la base d’Al Udeïd. Son dernier atterrissage sur la piste qatarienne vient boucler la 383e mission de guerre depuis son premier déploiement en 2014.

Relève de la frégate « Guépratte » par l’« Aconit »

Déployée depuis le mois d’avril en méditerranée orientale dans le cadre de l’opération « Chammal », la frégate légère furtive « Guépratte » a été relevée par la frégate légère furtive « Aconit » pour assurer la permanence opérationnelle dans cette zone et contribuer à l’appréciation autonome française sur ce théâtre d’opérations.

Lors de cette passation de suite à la mer sur le théâtre d’opération, les états-majors des deux unités ont pu échanger et se transmettre les éléments utiles à la bonne réalisation de la mission. Outre la patrouille commune, cette journée a été l’occasion de réaliser des exercices conjoints, axés sur la préparation au combat, entre ces deux frégates de la classe « La Fayette ».
