Airwars assessment

A Civil Service Defence Quarter was put out of service when two warplanes fired missiles on Izaz, Aleppo, a town close to the Turkish border in northern Aleppo. Up to  five civilians including a child reportedly died in the attack, which caused extensive destruction to the building and injured several Civil Defence workers.

Ara News blamed the Assad regime for the warplanes.

But  the Syrian Network for Human Rights and Aleppo24 blamed Russian warplanes for the bombardment on the area.

According to Syrian Press Centre, five civilians were killed in the raid. Several other local news sources also put the numbers killed at five including SRG_Syria. LCCSY put the death toll slightly lower at two.

The Syrian Coalition tweeted that there had been “more than 60 martyrs and dozens of wounded in Aleppo today due to warplanes shelling.”

The local time of the incident is unknown.

The victims were named as:

Airwars assessment

Between three and five civilians died and dozens more were wounded in airstrikes on Aleppo’s Mashhad neighbourhood, according to local media – though reports were conflicted as to whether this was the work of Russia or the regime. Local media outlets said that a popular bakery had been struck.

LCCSY initially reported that Russia carried out a “vacuum missile attack” – though the source later appeared to change its position and blame “Assad’s helicopters”.

Ara was the only other source that blamed Russia, reporting that six civilians died in the raid on the bakery.

The majority of sources, including the Syrian Network for Human Rights, Halab News and AMC attributed the event to “explosive barrels dropped from regime helicopters.” Most reports put the death count at three.

The Violations Documentation Center listed five unidentified adult males, and blamed “Syrian government and affiliated militias” for their deaths.

The local time of the incident is unknown.

Airwars assessment

Between one and five children were killed and up to 20 were wounded – including 15 students and four teachers – following an artillery bombardment and airstrikes which struck Al Nashabiya School in Damascus, also named by another source as “Al Karma” Primary, according to local media. Most sources have either not attributed any blame or have blamed Russian warplanes for the alleged air and artillery strikes.

One source claimed that the missiles which struck the school caused huge amounts of material damage. Images published supported this claim. According to Syrian-Reporter, “The missile targeted the construction of the fourth row near the administrative guidance room, which caused great damage to the building, and led the school to being completely out of service.” Another source reported that rockets struck the area.

The doctor, “Anas”, working in the hospital, a statement to Smart News, suggested that “the unidentified aircraft, struck the Al Karma primary school in the town of Nashabiya, killing a student and wounding more than 15 other students and teachers. There are no military headquarters around the school.” The doctor also reported that “among the wounded are serious cases, which suggests the number of victims will increase.”

Video footage shows the extent of damage to the school, which was apparently struck on Sunday during school hours. Blood covers the floor and the classrooms are rendered out of use. Other photographs and video footage show seriously wounded children received medical treatment in a field hospital in the aftermath of the incident.

The local time of the incident is unknown.
