In a news roundup, Shaam News reported that several civilians were killed and wounded in an alleged Russian airstrike on Jarablus.

The Network said this was part of raids on neighbourhoods in the city of Al Bab, including the villages of Berlhan, Trahil and the city of Manbij. It added that civilians were directly targeted.

VDC lists one unidentified civilian male as having been killed.

In its military report published on 1st February 2016, the Kremlin said: “In the course of the last week, the Russian aircraft in the Syrian Arab Republic have performed 468 combat sorties engaging 1354 terrorists’ infrastructural facilities in the Aleppo, Latakia, Hama, Homs, Damascus, Raqqah, Daraa and Deir ez-Zor provinces. Among them – 24 ones were carried out by Tu-22M3 long-range bombers from the Russian territory…Near Jeb Ghabishah (Aleppo province), a Su-24M bomber destroyed ammunition and POL storages of the ISIS terrorists.“

Two civilians died and dozens more were injured in alleged Russian airstrikes on Tel Rifa’at, according to local media.

The Violations Documentation Center named one adult male civilian, 62-year-old Abdul Jabbar Mohammad Mraimini, as killed in an alleged Russian airstrike on tel Rifa’at. Shaam News Network also reported one death, however it did not specifically say this was caused by a Russian raid.

A video published by Tal Refaat Information Office showed repeated strikes on “civilian houses” in the area. The source said that they were conducted by Russia. According to Shahba Press, there were more than 20 Russian strikes launched on the Tuesday on Tel Rifa’at, killing one non-combatant and injuring dozens more.

Smart published a video showing child casualties from raids which they said were Russian.

Two victims of an alleged Russian strike were named by Halab News.

From February 4th – February 11th, Russia reported: “In the course of the last week, February 4-11, aircraft of the Russian aviation group in the Syrian Arab Republic have performed 510 combat sorties engaging 1,888 terrorists’ objects in the provinces of Aleppo, Latakia, Hama, Deir ez-Zor, Daraa, Homs, Hasakah and Raqqah.” It added: “Two powerful field commanders were liquidated in the Aleppo province.In the suburbs of Kalaz-Tahtani, a large illegal armed group with its commander, “Abu Maher” (“Farid Al-Misri”) was eliminated by an airstrike.The field commander “Abu Anas Al-Sham” from the Jaysh al-Sham terrorist group was liquidated in the territory of the same province.” It also said that “Russian aviation eliminated open ISIS oil storages in the Aleppo province.“

Several civilians died and up to 20 were injured in Khan al Sheikh according to local sources – though only one explicitly blamed Russia, with the majority of others pointing to regime shelling.

According to Qasioun, one civilian died in regime shelling. Smart, Orient and Khan Al Sheikh Media Centre blamed the regime, with Smart saying that 20 civilians were also wounded.

According to SMO, “Assad’s forces shelled the area around Khan Sheikh refugee camp, killing at least two civilians and wounding two people.”

Syrian Human Rights Committee named Zuhair Ghazi Fa’our as killed in a “bombardment”, but didn’t say who was responsible. Damascus Centre for Human Rights Studies also named him and blamed Russia for his death.

Several civilians died in alleged Russian strikes on various locations across Aleppo during the second day of Ramadan, according to local sources.

The Shaam News Network reported that Russian warplanes and regime helicopters “launched air raids using phosphorous and cluster bombs and explosive barrels on the cities of Huraytan and anadan and towns of Hayan and Kafr Hamrah and Maarat al Artiq, al Leiramon, al Mallah, Al Qabr al Inglisi and Assiya which led to the fall of the martyrs and the number of wounded among civilians“.

A subsequent SNN report said that Russia was to blame, while a video reported the use of “phosophrous and cluster and vacuum bombs” in Anadan on the second day of Ramadan.

Alalam published the same video and said that Russia was responsible.

On 6 January 2017, Russia, however, reported: “Since November 8, 2016, the aircraft carrier group of the Northern Fleet consisting of the heavy aircraft carrying cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov, the heavy nuclear missile cruiser Pyotr Velikiy, the large ASW ship Severomorsk, as well as auxiliary vessels of the Black Sea Fleet, has been fulfilling counterterrorist missions on the territory of Syria”, adding that ”in the course of two months of their participation in the combat actions, naval aviation pilots have carried out 420 combat sorties, 117 of them were night ones.”

Additionally, Russia reported that its air forces have carried out strikes in Aleppo during November and December 2016.

Two civilians were killed and an unspecified number of others were wounded in airstrikes on Hatla, local media reported. Sources attributed the blame to both Russia, the Syrian regime and the US led Coalition.

There is one allegation made by the Damascus Center for Human Rights Studies which claims the named victim was killed by the US-led alliance.

There were as many as ten raids fired onto the vicinity. However, Hasan Al Barry put the number as high as 47.

They reported that “The number of raids targeting the towns of Halta and Salhia since yesterday night, so far more than (47) air raid, in addition to heavy artillery and rocket fire, resulting in the injury of a number of civilians and there are serious injuries”.

In the aftermath of the missile bombardement, many women and children were reportedly missing, or trapped under the rubble.
