Airwars assessment

Four non-combatants died in airstrikes on Bab al Nairab, according to local sources. The majority of reports indicated that this was a regime incident, though Shaam News Network also suggested that Russia could also have been responsible. A news roundup blamed both Russian and the regime, reporting “the 9th consecutive day bringing death and destruction carried out by the Russian Aviation and the Assad regime, bombing districts of Aleppo and the targeting of civilian homes and vital facilities.” It documented four deaths in Bab al Nairab. The Syrian Network also put the death toll at four and blamed the regime. In a tweet it spoke of “4 victims at least”.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that “about 20 airstrikes” targeted 10 neighborhoods in Aleppo – including Bab al Nairab – on April 30th. They did not say who the warplanes belonged to, but added that the strikes “killed at least two people in Bostan al-Qasr and Bab al-Nairab.” According to a tweet by ShababRevolution “the Bab Al-Neyrab cemetery was bombed by Assad’s warplanes.”

Enab Baladi put the death toll at 5 and spoke of 10 wounded. A video by Halab News shows injured and dead in Bab Al-Nairab, though offered no more information. It was furthermore reported in a tweet by Yasmin Alsham and a video, that the “Aleppo water pumping station in Bab Al-Neyrab is out of service due to warplane missiles.”

The local time of the incident is unknown.

Airwars assessment

At least two, but up to five, civilians were killed and several were wounded as Jisreen, eastern Ghouta, Damascus, was subject to aerial and artillery shelling, carried out by the Syrian regime, Russia or both, as reported by local media.

Zaman al-Wasl reported how several towns of eastern Ghouta, including Jisreen, were being struck by both airstrikes and artillery shelling for the third day in a row, mainly striking residential neighbourhoods.

In Jisreen, the death toll spanned from two to five, the highest reported by only one source, Step News Agency.

While no reports mentioned the exact number of wounded, Step News Agency reported that the shelling of eastern Ghouta, including Jisreen, overall wounded dozens.

Moreover, several reports, such as Ghouta Media Center (GMC), reported that a field hospital in Jisreen went out of service after being struck by “Russian air raids and explosive barrels delivered by helicopter flying over the region.”

However, it was unclear among the reports where to apportion blame. Some blamed the Syrian regime while GMC, as seen above, pointed to Russia, and finally, the Syrian Network for Human Rights identified both belligerents as responsible.

The local time of the incident is unknown.

Airwars assessment

Five civilians died in an airstrike on Daranj, according to local media, though it was unclear who was responsible, with sources blaming the Coalition, the Syrian regime and one pointing towards Russia. A number of other sources didn’t apportion blame.

Euphrates Post and Deir Ezzor named five victims as killed by unidentified “warplanes”:

Rami Assaf, reportedly a lawyer, alleged that the Coalition carried out the strike, killing the above victims.

Al Jazeera, Al Araby, the Smart News Agency and Zamanalwasl also blamed the Coalition, putting the death toll at four, as did the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, who said that dozens more were injured.

However, the RFS Media Office pointed toward Russia.

While the Coalition has publicly reported no strikes on Syria that day, the SDF took control of the town shortly afterwards. The Syrian Network for Human Rights, however, attributed the event to the regime.

On March 10, 2022 in the CJTF-OIR Civilian Casualty Report, the Coalition reported this incident to be “non-credible”, stating that “After review of all available evidence it was determined that more likely than not civilian casualties did not occur as a result of a Coalition strike.”

Airwars assessment

Between two and five civilians were killed in an air raid on the district of Bustan al Basha, Aleppo, according to local media. While the majority of sources attributed the event to Russia, there were also reports that the regime had been active over the neighbourhood on this day.

Syria News Desk reported that “at least five civilians were killed in Bustan al Basha [when] Russian warplanes targeted more than 50 areas under the control of the opposition in Aleppo and its countryside areas.”

A tweet from Syria News Time at 06:13 put the death toll at two civilians. However, a later tweet, at 12:28 from Shahba Press, said that the death toll had risen to five.

HNN listed five unidentified civilians as killed “following Russian enemy raids”.

However, @aleppo_on_line said that explosive barrels – a weapon known to be used by the regime – had been dropped on the neighbourhood, while @AksAlsear pointed to both “Assad and Putin’s planes”.

It is currently unknown how many were injured in the raid.

The local time of the incident is unknown.

Airwars assessment

Local sources reported that airstrikes struck a popular market in Ras al Ein village east of the city of Abu-Thabet in Idlib. According to Step News, shelling was carried out by “Russian airliners and helicopters”. The Syrian Network for Human Rights blamed the Syrian regime instead. The sources said that the market was attacked with four highly-explosive vacuum missiles. Other sourced said that airstrikes targeted civilians houses.

Most sources reported that four civilians were killed and others raised the toll to seven including women and children. Smart News claimed that among the victims were two children, while Step News and the Local Coordination Committee of Syria claimed three children were killed. According to the Syrian Network for Human Rights, all four fatalities were children.

The  Syrian Civil Defense (SCD) forces that were present at the scene initially reported that three civilians were killed and eight wounded, while in a later post claimed that the death toll had risen to seven civilians, including three children. It added that the number of wounded had gone up from eight to 20 civilians. The SCD reported that it searched for hours under the rubble and Orient news reported that a family of six members was stuck under the rubble.

Smart News posted several photographs and a video. Links to the these reports on the website of Smart News are included in this assessment.

Images and reported tell that the airstrikes caused huge destruction to the infrastructure.

Airwars assessment

Five non-combatants including three to four women died when a civilian car was targeted  on Castello-Kafr Hamra Road in Aleppo, according to local sources. All but one said this was an attack by the Assad regime – while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights does not specify who was responsible.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights blamed regime warplanes, putting the death toll at five. Huraytan City, also said the regime was responsible, reporting that five individuals died  when their car was targeted.

Step News Agency  put the death toll at five (four women and one man) and said that the regime fired a “thermal rocket” on a civilian car. Two other sources: Aksalser News and Al Jisr TV, also attributed the incident to regime militia.

However in a report on Russian strikes in northern Aleppo on February 13th, The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also said that five were killed when a thermal missile targeted the road, but did not say whether the victims were killed as a result of a Russian strike in this case.

The local time of the incident is unknown.
