One civilian, an adult male, was wounded in an alleged Russian or regime airstrike in Kafar Naha, according to local sources on January 22nd 2020.

The White Helmets reported: “A person was injured as a result of the bombing of a factory in the town of Kafr Nanaha, in the western countryside of Aleppo. Our team assisted him to the hospital.”

A subsequent post by the White Helmets added that there have been raids “that targeted a building used as a petrol station”.

Local Coordination Committees of Syria named the victim as 35-year-old Mahmoud Al-Khader. The source said that a raid by a “warplane”.

There is some discrepancy around the timing of this incident. One local source said the airstrike happened at 08.36, but Local Coordination Committees of Syria indicated that this happened at 14.12. However, DW News reported that airstrikes have been targeting the area since the morning, noting that the regime and Russian forces struck more than 110 targets throughout the day and it is unclear whether this also continued into the afternoon.

The Step News Agency and other local sources reported one civilian killed and the injury of three more; they all blamed “Russian airstrikes”.

But Smart said that regime artillery strikes killed one and wounded two more civilians.

According to the Shaam News Network, “Russian and Assad warplanes and helicopters launched dozens of air strikes” targeting cities and towns in Aleppo. It said that one civilian died in Al Humaira.

Local media reported the death of one child and the injury of his brother in an alleged Russian airstrikes on Al Qal’ajiya.

According to Shahba Press, “A civilian youth was martyred and his brother was injured as a result of air strikes on the village of Al Qal’ajiya in the southern countryside of Aleppo, Thursday morning.”

Justice Organisation and other local sources named the victims as Muhammad Eid Nour, aged 14, who was killed, and his brother, Abd al-Hakim, who was wounded.

Aramme News reported that “it is worth noting that the Russian warplanes launched intensive raids on the countryside of Aleppo and Idlib on Tuesday, ignoring the recently announced ceasefire; as a result, dozens of civilians were killed and wounded, including an entire family.”

@abuhuzaifa published distressing footage showing the children’s mother “collecting the parts of her child that were scattered and holding each piece in her hand.”

Two women died and up to three other civilians including two children and a woman, were wounded in up to three alleged Russian airstrikes on an IDP camp in the outskirts of Al Atareb, local media reported.

Jisr identified the women that died as Mrs. Nofa Al Mohammed, aged 60, and Mrs. Khawla Al Hassan.  They also identified Narges Muhammad Owaid, aged eight, and Mrs. Abeer Muhammad Owaid, aged 38, among those injured.

The White Helmets said: “An aerial bombing with three consecutive raids on a camp in the vicinity of Atarib city resulted in the death of two women and the injury of several people, including the child Narjis Muhammad Awaid, 8 years old, and Abeer Muhammad Awaid, 38 years old.”

According to the Syrian Network for Human Rights, “Mrs. Noufah al Muhammad and Mrs. Khawlah al Hasan were killed as fixed- wing warplanes we believe were Russian fired missiles on a gathering of IDPs tents in east of al Atareb city in the western suburbs of Aleppo governorate, on January 22.”

The White Helmets said there had been “three successive raids”. LCCSY said that the raids occurred at 07:43 local time.

Syrian Civil Defense said the two women believed to be injured are IDPs from another part of the country.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights said that “the child Jum’ah al Rashid, aged 10, was killed as fixed- wing warplanes we believe were Russian fired missiles on Taqad village in the western suburbs of Aleppo governorate, on January 21.”

Local Coordination Committees of Syria reported the death of the child and “the injury of the Ahmed Al-Araj’s daughter, 7 years old, and the injury of a woman.” @fawaz_jwaid tweeted about the “death of a 7-year-old girl, Bint Ahmed Al-Araj“, indicating that Ahmed’s daughter died from her injuries. Zeitoun Newspaper also put the death toll at two civilians.

SMART Agency quoted Syrian Civil Defense saying ” A child was killed and four others were wounded, including a woman, as a result of missile strikes from Russian warplanes on Taqad village, which is located in the city of Darat Azza in the western countryside of Aleppo.” Images posted by @aymanalahmadd show two young girls being treated for injuries from the airstrikes and Syria TV mentions that those injured were family members of the civilian killed.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights expected the death toll to rise as there are many injuries including some in critical conditions.

@RamahKasem added that civilian property was destroyed from the airstrikes.

@ShahbaPress, Macro Media Center, SMART Agency, Local Coordination Committees of Syria and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights blamed Russia for this incident, while Syrian Civil Defense blamed the Syrian Regime, while Nors for Studies blamed both Russia and the Syrian regime. @fawaz_jwaid referred to vacuum missiles as being used in the attack.

Breaking a ceasefire, alleged Russian warplanes heavily bombed the village of Jdaria at 13:22 on January 21, 2020, killing at least two girls and injuring two other civilians.

According to Al Jazeera News, quoting the Syrian Civil Defense, two girls were killed in Russian airstrikes on the village of Jdaria.The two girls, Aida al-Khalid and her sister, Ritaj al-Khalid, only four and five years old were among the victims of the countryside bombing raids according to reports from activists on the ground who reported what they saw to Hama Gate. Both girls were from a family of IDPs from the Hama countryside.

Step Agency reported that “the Russian warplanes targeted the village of Jadraya, near the town of Ma’arat al-Na`san in the western countryside of Aleppo, with a missile strike that killed two children and wounded two others”.

Jesr Press added that in addition to the two girls that were killed, two civilians were also injured in the raids. A tweet from @feraskaram01provided a death toll of three people killed.

A tweet from @jistrv showed bombed out houses within civilian areas in the western countryside of Aleppo. In one image, a smoldering motorcycle rests against a scarred telephone pole. There are no apparent military targets in any of the images provided. The Syrian Network for Human Rights also reported that missiles struck a water tank, partially damaging the tank, in Jdaria.

The Russian bombing raids are opening supported by the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad. The extent of the damage, according to the Step news agency, was the result of Russian strikes upon the Aleppo countryside, which the majority of other sources also reported. A tweet from @FdzPWRe6ruAGFPd pointed out that explosive missiles were used in the attack.

Between four and 11 civilians died and an unspecified number more were wounded in  alleged Russian or regime airstrikes on Ma’ar Dibsa, according to local media. There were also reports that between five and nine combatants died.

Live ua reported: “Four civilians were killed and others wounded as a result of air strikes on the town of Ma`rdbsa in the southeast Idlib countryside” while the Local Coordination Committee of Syria put the number of people killed at nine, including three civilians.

The highest toll provided was 11 killed but did not specify whether they were civilians or militants. A tweet from @FdzPWRe6ruAGFPd also mentioned “many wounded among civilians” but didn’t provide a number.

Smart noted the death of “six people” and blamed Russian vacuum missiles.

However, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that “five HTS fighters” were killed, while the Shaam News Network reported the death of “nine revolutionaries”.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights named an adult male, Sattouf Ali al Hashoum, as killed in a regime strike; it didn’t identify his combat status.

All of the sources that reported on the incident attributed the strikes to Russia or did not specify whether the strikes were carried out by Russia or the regime.
