According to a single source, two civilian workers died when the bridge they were repairing was targeted n a Coalition airstrike.

Smart News reported that “Two workers were killed and others wounded on Monday, after bombing by aircraft from the international coalition at Al Maghla bridge during maintenance work in the city of Raqqa, according to reports from local sources…. The sources added that the raids resulted in killing two workers and moderately wounding three others, in addition to equipment damage.”

The Coalition has confirmed striking a bridge at Raqqa that day. Raqqa is Being Slaughtered also noted the strike, though made no mention oif civilian casualties.

At least 15 civilians from the same family died in either Turkish or Coalition airstrikes, as the battle to seize Al Bab from ISIL continued. Up to nine other non-combatants also died.

Al Jazeera initially placed the death toll at 16 and then 24, though said the fatalities resulted from “shelling and battles in the city.” The Syrian Network blamed the Coalition for the deaths of “17 civilians, including 3 children and 5 women”, while LCCSY reported “21 martyrs in Aleppo killed in Turkish air and artillery bombardment on al Bab.”

According to Shaam News “Al A’amaq agency [ISIL] reported that Turkish aircraft and aircraft of the international coalition launched more than 20 air raid on the city’s neighborhoods, as has been targeting residential neighborhoods with more than 250 artillery shells and grenades.”

Airwars assessment

At least one woman was killed in airstrikes against the town of Saida in the countryside of Dara’a.

Local sources gave conflicting reports as to who was responsible for the airstrikes. Orient News reported that both the regime and Russia carried out airstrikes but did not determine which struck Saida. Other sources did give specific identities, with Victims Documentation Center and @eyadalzoubi blaming Russian airplanes for carrying out the airstrikes while All4Syria and Smart News named the regie as the culprit.

According to Orient News, the strikes on Saida was part of a campaign by regime and Russian warplanes to deliberately target residential buildings and service centers in the Dara’a area.

Airwars assessment

Between three and 10 civilians, including two to three women and three to five children, were killed and at least 12 others were injured in alleged Russian or Assad regime airstrikes against the neighborhood of Al Sadd street in Dara’a, according to sources on the ground.

Most of the victims of the airstrikes were from the same family. At the time that it was reported that seven civilians were killed, Syria News Desk pointed out that the civil defense teams were still searching through the rubble for more survivors or victims.

The majority of local sources, including Step News Agency and the Local Coordination Committees of Syria, reported that Russia was responsible for carrying out the airstrikes against Al Sadd street.

However, conflicting reports by @ibraheem890 and All4Syria blamed regime planes for launching the airstrikes.

Other sources, including Sky Arabic, only identified that Russian and regime planes carried out airstrikes in Dara’a without specifically reporting which had struck Al Sadd.

According to @Omar_Madaniah, the airstrikes were a revenge attack in response to a recent loss by regime forces in Dara’a and were part of an accelerated bombardment that had not been seen at such a level since early 2016.

Multiple sources reported that Al Sadd was under the control of rebels at the time and residential buildings were struck by the raids. Following the attack, local officials in Dara’a announced that they would close schools due to safety concerns.

The incident occured at approximately 12:00 am local time.

In an incident not previously tracked by Airwars, the Coalition later confirmed the deaths of two civilians during an attack on an IED facility in Mosul.

In their April 2017 civilian casualty report, the Coalition noted: “During a strike on an ISIS VBIED facility, it was assessed that two civilians were unintentionally killed when they entered the target area after the munition was released.”

Coordinates provided by the Coalition to Airwars (Grid 38SLF 27763 26855) showed the incident occurred in the New Mosul area. There were reports of heavy shelling that day, According to Suhf, “A security source in the province of Nineveh said on Thursday that the air force and the coalition began to launch “intensive” raids on the positions of the organization (Daash) on the western side of the city of Mosul, in preparation for ground operations in the areas of the right side of the city. “The Iraqi forces and the International Alliance, at dawn today, launched artillery bombardments and intensive air raids on the western side of Mosul, in a move paving the way to break through at this side of the city.”
