Nine or more civilians – mainly women and children – were killed and dozens were wounded in air and artillery strikes on Mesraba, local media reported. Sources blamed both Russia and the Syrian regime for the raids on the vicinity.

Sources reported that there were as many as 27 barrel bombs, as well as 18 airstrikes and over 150 artillery and mortar shells, leaving nine dead.

@SiegeWatch tweeted that “A group of five government helicopters today [March 9th] flew together, dropping at least a dozen barrel bombs on the people of Misraba, nine civilians were killed.”

Photographs show extensive damage to the residential vicinity.

Baladi said that the strikes occurred in the evening.

Graphic images of two child fatalities were published by several sources.

The night raids consisted of heavy explosions on the residential neighbourhood.

Shaam reported that “Russian warplanes and the Assad helicopters launched fierce air raids accompanied by artillery bombardment and a very violent missile… wounding civilians in the cities of Saqba, Harasta, Hamouriya, Irbin and Madyra.”

Between 12 and 17 civilians including six children and five women from several families were killed and dozens more wounded in multiple air and artillery strikes on Douma, local media reported. Sources attributed blame to both Russia and the Syrian regime.

Arab 24 reported that “the airstrikes targeted Douma and Jisreen ahead of the convoy of aid, which includes 13 trucks carrying humanitarian and food items to the city of Douma.” This claim was repeated by a number of other sources, who said that the strikes occurred “at a time when aid agencies [were] preparing to deliver food and aid to the city.”

Twelve of the victims reportedly were from one family.

The raids included a guided missile, a heavy artillery bombardement and a helicopter bombardment.

There was huge destruction to buildings and streets in the local vicinity.

A member of the White Helmets, named as Muhammad Masarwa, reportedly died while helping evacuate people from the area.

@eg_nawras tweeted an image of a dead child, though he was not identified, and the source did not say which belligerent was responsible for this death.

The Step News Agency reported: “Russian aircraft launched an air strike targeting the city of Arbeen in the eastern Ghouta in conjunction with heavy artillery shelling by the regime forces on the city, resulting in many civilian casualties.”

Douma Revolutuion reported: “11 martyrs in the city of Duma yesterday Thursday ], 8/3/2018, according to the Syrian Civil Defense in the countryside of Damascus. The city was targeted yesterday [March 8th] with more than 15 air strikes, and more than 20 artillery shells targeting residential neighbourhoods in the city, which led to 11 martyrs, including three women, according to the statistics of civil defense in the countryside of Damascus.”

Between five and six civilians were killed and several others were wounded in air and/or artillery strikes on the residential neighbourhood of Mesraba, local media reported. Sources blamed both the Russian and Syrian regime raids.

Alaraby News reported that “The Syrian Civil Defence in the countryside of Damascus [reported that a] woman was killed and 21 civilians were injured, including five women and three children, as a result of air strikes, missiles and heavy artillery targeted residential areas in the town of Mesraba, after 24 raids from Russian and Syrian warplanes.

However, others sources put the numbers higher. According to the Syrian Network for Human Rights, for example, “at least six civilians killed as Syrian/Russian warplanes fired missiles on several areas in Misraba town in Eastern Ghouta east of Damascus suburbs governorate, on March 7, 2018.”
