Up to three civilians were reportedly killed in alleged Russian or Syrian regime airstrikes on the town of Ma’arat Harma, Idlib governorate, on July 2nd, 2019, according to local sources. At least one other civilian was wounded.

@AleppoAMC tweeted that “a civilian was killed in an airstrike on the town of Ma’arat Harma in the southern countryside of Idlib.”

Several sources, such as Step news and Syrian Network for Human Rights, reported the death of “Mohammed Salloum Al Kan’an from the town of Ma’arat Harma, south of Idlib, as a result of intensive raids by warplanes on the town”, while two other sources reported the deaths of three civilians and stated that others had been wounded. @SyriaCivilDefe reported “two martyrs and two injuries”.

@shabablatamni reported that SU-22 regime warplanes targeted the outskirts of the town with missiles. According to Step News Agency, the incident took place in the afternoon.

While several sources, such as the Syrian Network for Human Rights and Resala Post, attributed the airstrike to the Syrian regime, other sources, including Enab Baladi, blamed Russia. Others pointed to both Russia and the Syrian regime.

One to three civilians were reported killed in airstrikes on Khan Sheikoun, Idlib, on July 1st.

IdlibPlus alleged “two martyrs and a number of wounded as a result of the targeting of Russian warplanes in the city of Khan Sheikhoun,” while Syria Civil Defense documented the death of three civilians in the attack.

Meanwhile, Syrian Network for Human Rights stated that “Khaled al Neser was killed along with Abdul Latif al Skhita as warplanes we believe were Russian fired missiles on al Gharbi neighborhood in Khan Sheikhoun city in Idlib governorate southern suburbs, on July 1st.” Two days after the strike, the source added that Yahya Turki al Jasem from Kafr Ein village in Idlib died on July 2nd due to wounds sustained in the attack on Khan Sheikhoun on July 1st.

Edlib Media center also reported five wounded as a result of the attack, while other sources named “others injured.”

Suriye.u.a.d reported the use of cluster munitions in the attack, and Step News Agency stated that one civilian was killed, along with “several injured.”

One source did not positively attribute blame for the airstrike, while 11 sources attributed the attack to Russian forces, and @SyrianCoaltion named both Russia and the Syrian regime in reporting the incident.

Two children were reported killed and six others including three children injured in airstrikes on Al Amiriya, Idlib, on June 30th. @HalabTodayTV reported the use of cluster bombs in the airstrike on the village.

While Syrian network for Human Rights referred to the children killed as two siblings, Shabab Al Latamina documented the martyrdom of the two children “Riad Ahmed Al Fawaz and Domu’ Ahmad Al Fawaz“, with attached images of a boy and a girl killed in the attack. Furthermore, Syria Civil Defense alleged the death of a boy and a girl, and the injury of three other children. The two children were displaced from Al-Jabin in Hama, accoridng to local sources.

Shabab Al Latamina state that a three year old child, Adib Mustafa Al-Sulaiman, was also injured in the bombardment.

Two sources attributed the strike to Russian forces, and one to the Syrian regime, while another source named both of these in reporting the incident. Two other sources did not positively attribute blame for the attack.

Step News agency alleged that “a child was seriously injured by a cluster bomb left behind by a former Russian military attack on the town of Hayyan, north of Aleppo.”

Shaam News claimed that he was hospitalised as a result of the explosion.

All sources stated that the cluster munition was a remnant from a previous attack by Russian forces. It is unknown when the munition was dropped.

Step News, JisrTV and other sources reported Syrian regime artillery shelling on Hayyan on the same day, resulting in civilian harm in a likely unrelated incident.
